Research

Since completing my Art History studies at Leiden University, I have been conducting research and publishing on applied art, design, and design education. I conduct research and publish on my own initiative and on behalf of organizations such as Museum Boymans Van Beuningen, the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, the Association of Netherlands Municipalities, the (now defunct) design magazines such as Items, For example, and Glas & Keramiek, and for individual artists and designers. Several publications have emerged from the research projects of the ArtEZ University of the Arts professorship, which I led from 2016 to 2024. These involve design research with experienced designers and design students in collaboration with various partners from the so-called quadruple helix (academia, government, business, public organizations). Most projects focused on sustainable design for everyday objects, (interior) architecture, and fashion/textiles. Items, Bijvoorbeeld en Glas & Keramiek, en voor individuele kunstenaars en ontwerpers.

Diverse publicaties zijn voortgekomen uit de onderzoeksprojecten van het lectoraat van ArtEZ University of the Arts waaraan ik van 2016 tot 2024 leiding gaf. Het betreft vormen van ontwerpend onderzoek met ervaren ontwerpers en ontwerpstudenten in samenwerking met diverse samenwerkingspartners uit de zogenoemde quadruple helix (academia, overheid, bedrijfsleven, publieke organisaties). De meeste projecten hadden betrekking op duurzame vormgeving voor gebruiksvoorwerpen, (interieur)architectuur en mode/textiel.
